about me

If you tell me my weight in pounds, I’d have to convert them to kilograms and sorrow to fully comprehend the reality of my corpulence. I then mentally proceed to commit to a strict eating regime with seemingly unwavering determination, but gradually abandon this ambition as dinnertime approaches.  If you ask for my name, I’d tell you the same thing I tell every Starbuck’s barista: “Jay, no whip please” (the last part being situational). But if you give me your time and sincere attention, you’ll find that that name is made up and is simply a mechanism to avoid the routine, yet necessary explanation of why I have a Hispanic name but a Chinese face – an extremely hot topic in Uber Rides. My name is Juan; I am Chinese by blood but Indonesian by heart. I run on coffee and walk on treadmills. I'm a vessel of emotions, a medium for love, life, and laughter, and a catalyst for comedy. I’m a sporadic hammer and spontaneous reptilian, known to break the coldest of ices but breed the awkwardest of turtles. My educational interests and professional aspirations have left me pursuing a masters degree in America, leaving both my accent and inhibitions back home.
